Actually this clip wasn’t from the X-Files but from it’s spin off called The Lone Gunman. This scene was taken from the pilot episode (Episode #1AEB79) which aired on March 4, 2001…7 months before the attacks in New York and Washington D.C. took place. This means the episode was shot likely in January, the script written somewhere in the fall of 2000. Did this episode inspire the terrorist attacks, was it a foreshadowing or pure coincidence?
“No one could have conceivably imagined suicide bombers burrowing into our society and then emerging all in the same day to fly [their] aircraft into buildings.” – George W. Bush – U.S. President
“I don’t think anybody could have predicted that…they would try to use an airplane as a missile.” – Condoleezza Rice – U.S. National Security Adviser
“You hate to admit it, but we hadn’t thought about this.” – Gen. Richard Myers – U.S. Air Force
“What’s disturbing about it to me is, you think as a fiction writer that if you can imagine this scenario then the people in power in the government who are there to imagine disaster scenarios can imagine it, too.” – Frank Spotnitz, Co-Producer of The Lone Gunmen
