A great commercial for the Idle Free Calgary campaign that we can all learn from.
Stupidity is a film by an old friend of mine who I met back in the 80’s here in Montréal during his Theatre Shmeatre days, Albert Nerenberg.
Stupidity sets out to determine whether our culture is hooked on deliberate ignorance as a strategy for success. From Adam Sandler to George W Bush, from the IQ test to TV programming, to the origins of the word moron, Stupidity examines the “dumbing down” of contemporary culture.
Stupidity embarks on an exhaustive search into its meaning, and the implications of a culture that is obsessed and saturated with stupefying culture. Stupidity careens at warp speed through sound bites on topics from television news and reality shows, to internet sites and popular films.
Featuring opinions and comments from some of today’s most recognizable figures, cultural critics, authors and academics, including John Cleese, Noam Chomsky, Selma Hayek, and Bill Maher, Stupidity reveals that, despite our culture’s extensive access to knowledge and information, humans continue to choose stupidity.
Now you can “get stupid” in the comfort of your home with Stupidity, streamed for free (to viewers in the US and Canada) from AboveTopSecret.com.
CAUTION: Contains some strong language.
The movie is in theatres now watch the trailer, but it’s not just fiction.
I discovered this 3 part documentary on the phenomenon that inspired the movie. You can watch the 3 parts by clicking the links below. You’ll have to have Flash installed on your computer to watch.
First time I saw her I didn’t realize what I had seen. Now that I’ve seen “This is It” all I can say is “Wow!”
Orianthi Panagaris was one of 2 guitar players hired for Michael Jackson’s ill fated final concert series in London. And if you’ve seen AEG’s “This Is It” you know what I mean, this lady rocks!
She’s a 24 year old Australian who picked up the acoustic guitar at six, the electric guitar at 11, by 15 was writing and performing – and has been described by The New York Times as a Carlos Santana protégé. The pair met and jammed while Santana was touring Australia and the following quote from Santana appears on Panagaris’ MySpace page: “If I was going to pass the baton to somebody, she would be my first choice”.
Good news is she’s been signed to Geffen records to a deal all her own. While not the rock edge that I was so impressed with, it’s a great entrance onto the pop/rock stage.
Then have a look at this live stage performance.
Oriantho Panagaris is someone to watch. I can’t wait to hear more from her!
Time to get dark and scary (it is Halloween after all) for 2 hours and 24 minutes. This is a long documentary but a MUST see: (Watch it in wide screen here)
This morning I received an email from a friend asking if I had seen the scene from the upcoming movie 2012 last night, it was on every TV channel so it was hard to miss. Here’s what I wrote to her:
Yeah, I did see it. Stayed up later than I should have just so that I COULD see it.
I’m impressed with the special effects etc., but that scene was so over the top that credibility may be (thankfully) lost. Their interpretation of what will happen in 2012, if anything happens at all, could be damaging.
As you know I’ve been going further and further down the rabbit hole in my self studies of consciousness and I’ve come to a few conclusions, one of which is that we can control things in our environment more than I originally believed.
‘The Secret‘ talks about manifesting things into your life and I believe that works on a personal level. You’ve heard of prayer circles and the like where a small group of people meditate/pray for something, ie. someone’s health and they are able to effectuate change? Now, imagine just 1/10th of the planet, nearly 700-million people meditating/praying on the same thing…voluntarily or involuntarily…what are we with our collective conscious going to be able to accomplish? We could move mountains….or worse.
If enough people on the planet begin to fear the worst for 2012…they may accidentally manifest those things.
I continue to tell people that 2012 will be a time of peace, a time of realizing our connectedness to nature, of our one-ness with the living planet and to the living Universe. A Revelation! NOTE: The Greek word for Apocalypse is defined as “the act of revealing or unveiling”.
Noetic science is making huge strides in proving what I’m talking about in terms of our collective consciousness. Their investigations into things like clairvoyance, astral projection, telepathy, ESP, remote viewing, etc….is pointing to one undeniable fact…we are all connected to one another on the spiritual plane.
We are all one. A part of a collective whole…and as such we wield great power. But that power could be compared to a child playing with a loaded gun, we just don’t realize that we’re loaded. (so to speak)
If we’re not careful we may get what we wish for. Or (if you think like me) if we’re lucky we’ll get what we wish for… :0)
This past summer I took my family on a 10 day 3 city tour of the U.S. East coast, one of the stops was in Washington D.C.
Aside from having family living in the city and thus having a long relationship with the District and aside from wanting to finally introduce my kids to the treasures in the various Smithsonian museums (the Air and Space is my favourite), I have been following the work of William Henry and he recently suggested a closer look at the inside of the dome of the Capital building which I was eager to do. One of the HD pictures I took while I was there is above, click it to zoom in.
William Henry is an investigative mythologist who has decoded something very interesting about the U.S. Capital building the focus of which is on the fresco, up there in the dome called “The Apotheosis of George Washington”. My tour guide brushed it off as a tongue in cheek ‘glorification’ of George Washington, but upon closer inspection it becomes obvious that it is far more than that!
“…this fresco depicts Washington as a god-man. Christian art portrays Jesus sitting on a rainbow and enthroned exactly the same way. The sun is a symbol of Christ from the prophecy of Malachi 4:2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.”
“Tibetan artists use identical imagery to portray their high holy ones (called lamas) who have achieved “The Great Perfection” (Dzogchen). The aim of the Great Perfection is to awaken the individual to the primordial state of enlightenment, which is naturally found in all beings. The initiate’s goal is to integrate enlightenment into all his or her activities and to unite the physical body with the energy of Nature. The supreme realization of which lies in the manifestation of the “Rainbow Body” or body of light.
“This is the meaning behind the symbolism of both Jesus and George Washington sitting on the rainbow. Washington is a perfected human, not only a Grand Master, but also an ‘American Christ’, in tune with his divine nature…”
Add to that the empty tomb in the basement of the Capitol Building meant for George Washington and the implications are clear.
Now, last night I received a notification email from Amazon that the copy of Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol which I pre-ordered back in August (saved 50% BTW) has been sent, I should get it by the end of the week…can’t wait. But get this, based on the information I’ve been getting about the plot it has to do with the exact same topic…secret symbols in the U.S. Capital building!
I have a feeling that this is about to get v-e-r-y interesting.
(to be continued)…
The Black Eyed Peas kicked off their ‘The E.N.D.’ tour here in Montréal at ‘Virgin Fest‘. My wife and I were invited backstage to meet the group before the show. (Will.i.am was outside shaking hands).
Apparently, a couple of minutes after this picture was taken Zac Efron arrived. His girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens is in town shooting the movie ‘Beastly‘. They enjoyed the show from atop the Virgin double decker bus.
Well, after becoming totally indoctrinated into the High School Musical thing thanks to my kids we headed to the theatre for opening night of 17 Again with Zac Efron and from the looks of the box office receipts we weren’t the only ones. It brought in $24-million by Sunday night. At the end of the film I felt sorry for Matthew Perry as all of the girls in the audience realizing Zac was gone (and that the old guy was back ie. Matthew Perry), let out a sad sigh… It truly was sad.
Now, if you’re thinking “so what another teen heartthrob. We saw David and Shaun Cassidy do it, we even saw Leif Garret and where are they now?” Good point. But Zac can act!
Look at this appearance on ER when he was just 14 years old! He plays a walk-in patient named Bobby…
And on CSI: Miami:
As good as he can sing, did you know Zac turned down a recording contract offered to him by American Idol’s Simon Cowell?? Saying he preferred to concentrate on acting. I said it before and I’ll say it again…Zac can act! He’s not a learn your lines, hit your mark kind of an actor, he brings that something more to the set that only stars can bring.
Next, I want to see Zac in a movie that has nothing to do with a High School and doesn’t involve basketball. Jonny Quest might be a step in that direction.
After a quick ride to the future in my time machine I found this:
